Volunteer terms and waiver

Draft. The product owner must approve this waiver before launch. A lawyer must read it.

Version 2026-10-15

What volunteering is

Volunteering with Adopt The Bees is free. Adopt The Bees does not pay a volunteer, and a volunteer is not an employee.

Adopt The Bees does not promise work, an event, or a number of hours. A volunteer can stop at any time.

A volunteer form is not a booking. Staff match a volunteer to a task, and staff contact the volunteer first.

Risk, and your own decision

Outdoor work carries risk. A volunteer can meet bees, uneven ground, weather, tools, and other people.

You decide what you can do safely. Do not start a task that you cannot do safely.

Stop the task and tell the site lead when a condition changes.

Safety rules

Follow the instructions of the site lead.

Wear the clothing that the task needs. A bee suit is necessary near a colony.

Do not open a hive, move a colony, or handle bees without training and without a trained beekeeper present.

Do not bring a guest or a pet to a task unless the site lead agrees.

Volunteers under 18

A volunteer under 18 needs a parent or a guardian to agree to this waiver.

A parent or a guardian must stay at the site for some tasks. The site lead decides which tasks.

The form asks for an age range. Staff use the age range to plan the work and to ask for a guardian.

Photos and stories

Adopt The Bees can take photos or record short notes at a task.

Tell the site lead when you do not want to appear in a photo or in a story.

Do not publish the exact place of a hive. Ask staff first.

The details you give

The form sends your name, your email address, your phone number, your age range, your transport, and the materials you can bring.

Staff use these details to plan a task and to contact you.

The privacy notice explains this data. Read the privacy notice at /privacy.

What the checkbox means

The checkbox on the form records that you read this waiver and that you accept it.

Adopt The Bees stores the version that you accepted, with your form.

When the wording changes, the version changes, and the form asks for a new acceptance.
